[Solved] Search results now display by Date

Hey there, as the title implies it would be great if one could set a custom "Sort by..." option. I very often want to find for newest comments about sample libraries, Studio One updates or virtual Synth updates here on VI-C.

For that I always have to click on "Advanced search" first, so as to check the option "Sort by date" to avoid having results being sorted by relevance, which often displays posts which are about 1 or 2 years old.

Don't think it's actually possible for now but I would greatly appreciate that, cheers!

FWIW that's been one of those annoying things to me as a new user here with the default search box. I mean, it's not a life or death thing, it's just that I almost always want to search for the most recent posts with a search term, since "relevance" is usually a secondary concern when it's ignoring date in such a fast moving field. It would be great if we could set a default.

Hi, there are two ways to search.

1- Quick Search - Enter a search term in the Search field. Sorted by relevance.

2- Extended Search - If you want filtering by date, you have to do this.

This will open another SEARCH page. This one will give you more options to refine your search, and an option to order the results by Date.

I agree it should offer this on the quick search too, but that's not integrated with the forum software
yet.

Hope this helps! :)

Hi Maxime,

As of yesterday, this feature is now a "default" behavior on the forum search. Search results are now presented by most recent.

Hope this helps! :)

And if you want the search to go by relevance as it had before (or if you want to make searching by date permanent regardless of what the forum's default is), you can change this option under Your Account -> Preferences -> Search Options.
