A Very Fine Violin by Matthys Hofmans of Antwerp, c.1720 - SOLD

Hofmans - front   Hofmans - back

Violins of this calibre rarely come on the open market, and this characteristic example of Hofman's work, carrying a certificate of authenticity from W.E. Hill and Sons dated 1943, is right in all its parts. Modernised and set up in their workshop - classic neck graft, bass bar, bushing, gold-tip pegs, bridge, post etc - and restored to playing order in our own, it is well-preserved, very stable and in good condition throughout, with no current issues.
