New rules for signatures - Especially for people "selling" something

Well, from the other end of the perspective as a developer, I got started on this forum, and I couldn't make a living without it. So there's that to take into consideration too...
+1

There just needs to be a balance. Without advertisements and developers there would be no VIC, because the money has to come from somewhere.

Another site I know funds through donations and ads. But ads are still part of it.

I’ve gotten some kickass products that I only found out about because of here. (And emptied my wallet needlessly many times too ;) )

See the thread below. It was written with you and a couple other guys in mind. ;) (And yes, I deleted your signature again just now.)

So this mean, i am not allowed to have a signature , while others are allowed to have signatures?

The feature works for a group of members, while for another group, it does not.

And I also am allowed to post only 2 threads /months, is this? P

PLease confirm for I have sure that i know your new forum rules

Maybe there's a language barrier here, but of course you're allowed to have a signature. Just stick to the rules I laid out in the first post. (Maximum three lines, no bold or colors, etc.)

I made a signature for you that would be fine, although you should to edit it, especially to add the actual link to your radio show (assuming you want that there.) There might be a fancier way to make your email linkable for booking lessons, but I don't know how. If you do, then go for it.

It's also fine if you want to edit the Radio show text if you want to include something like "Submit your tracks for my radio show" or something like that.

And I also am allowed to post only 2 threads /months?
Yes. If it makes you feel better, I've limited some people to one per month. In your case, though, you do have legit knowledge to share, so two is okay.

Problems arise when there are 10 threads in a month, as you did in June. In fairness, it wasn't just you. About a dozen other companies and teachers were also posting tons of threads (almost all with zero replies), so I'm taking steps to slow that down, so that the forum doesn't become abused for marketing purposes.

I'll add that three of the abusers are also advertisers, two of whom canceled their ads in protest, which is fine by me. So rest assured this isn't a ploy to sell ads.

It's really nice to know the forum is run by someone who sticks to their principles. Good for us <3.

Heartily seconded. I’m hot-tempered and quick-tongued which doesn’t win me friends readily;) I think my new mantra will be WWMGD.

I'd like to give this thread a little bump.

Because when I first read the rules for signatures (bold, colors, emojis, number of lines), I realized I was doing some of those things that broke the rules. So I changed my signature to fix it.

Some months later, a few developers haven't. And many, I'm sure, just weren't aware, so it's understandable. But I know of at least one case where the developer is purposely not changing their signature. Which is kind of not fair to the rest of us who did pare back in order to show respect for the forum.

You could tag them here, or send me a list and I'll do it for them.

Got it. I found a second developer as well, and fixed both. (Without telling them, since they should know all this already, which means at this point, I would have been destined for a long conversation that starts with, "But Mike! My situation is different ...")

I also shortened (or removed colors or large fonts or various other annoyances) from some frequent poster members. If you post a lot, we don't need five extra lines tacked onto the end of every single one of your posts.
