What's new

Post deleted - why?

Nope - its still there.
Ah, you're right.

I would disagree that it's bringing politics into things and more making a comparison of a very public figure with a very well-known pattern of behavior.

Americans seem to think that merely referencing a politician, office or position is "getting political." Particularly if it's in a negative light against "their side." It's gotten so ridiculous that stating that you believe in science or not letting police kill people based on their skin color gets referred to as "being political." Pure hogwash.

And then when I ask to not bring politics into the discussion - THAT post gets deleted, but the Trump part of the post stays?
There's some subtlety to this that I think you're missing. Here's the relevant quote (from this post by @danstein):
"There is a clear tone to every communication from 8dio - for me, very reminiscent of the previous US President, a litany of complaint about everyone and everything except the author him/herself."

Now, I get that since Trump is referenced, it might be triggering to some. That's missing the point, though, which is that this is a message that hits home with Troels's core beliefs.

Troels is a total liberal, and any liberal believes that Trump is a guy who never admits mistakes and never apologizes. (Heck, there are even conservatives who believe that. Many even consider it a strength.) I'll bet you that many times over the years, Troels has actually said, "Damn, this guy's such a narcissist, who can't ever admit he's wrong."

So to then point out to Troels that he's exhibiting the exact same behavior as someone he has zero respect for ... it's freaking brilliant. So I'm not going to delete that post just for the sake of not upsetting the easily upsettable.
