In a nutshell: Orchestral Strings are dry recordings, works in VI Pro Player, have no 2nd violins, has a bigger viola section (10 vs 8), has a lot of articulations and legato is an acquired taste/needs some work for smooth transitions. What would be the advantages and differences of the Orchestral Strings vs Synchon Strings (both Pro and I)?
Thank youIn a nutshell: Orchestral Strings are dry recordings, works in VI Pro Player, have no 2nd violins, has a bigger viola section (10 vs 8), has a lot of articulations and legato is an acquired taste/needs some work for smooth transitions.
The trade off is flexibility in articulations vs sound quality and ease of mixing. What would be the advantages and differences of the Orchestral Strings vs Synchon Strings (both Pro and I)?
Yeah....that's typical for VSL. I always get the calculator out for these sales...Unless I missed something, the only things 50% off are the Vienna Imperial, Harps and Percussion Elements. The rest is about 35% off.
Good to know. I still would like to get Dimension Strings eventually, it's amazing how well they hold up after over 10 years.Yeah....that's typical for VSL. I always get the calculator out for these sales...
Fluffy Audio is way worse though. They advertise "up to 70% off".....but in reality there is one library produced in 1943 that is 70% off and all the stuff that anyone actually wants is 25% off at best.

You can always purchase a VI product and then upgrade to Synchron-ized at a very low priceSo this sale is mostly lost on me -
Yup I'm aware, but if the cost of purchasing the VI product and then upgrading to Synchron-ized is higher than just buying the Synchron-ized when it is on sale, and I'm never going to use the VI product and only the Synchron-ized one, then I might as well just wait until the Synchron-ized is on sale. You can always purchase a VI product and then upgrade to Synchron-ized at a very low price
Have your opinions changed at all on DS, both VI and Synchron-ized?Dimension Strings I is 45% off so I say go for it!
This is not generally true. If you buy the VI version on sale and the crossgrade later during a Synchron-zed sale it turns out even cheaper.Yup I'm aware, but if the cost of purchasing the VI product and then upgrading to Synchron-ized is higher than just buying the Synchron-ized when it is on sale, and I'm never going to use the VI product and only the Synchron-ized one, then I might as well just wait until the Synchron-ized is on sale.
Yes and no. I never succeeded in getting a lush and romantic sound from it which basically was my issue with it. But that's what we have the Appassionata Strings for, I guess! DS is better for other things - maybe more intimate, gritty, action-oriented? These strings are great for what they are!Have your opinions changed at all on DS, both VI and Synchron-ized?
