As I rebalance my new template, I find this bothers me more than before.
The first violins exist in the right channel much greater than they should, or would, if there were bodies over there.
The inverse is true for the celli.
The bigger the stage the worse it seems to get.
As a result, they lose their, somewhat desirable (IMO), isolation.
if you add this together for each section, you get an indecisive audio landscape where there is too much diffusion.
Things I have tried without good acoustic results:
1) dipping the R channel of the L-centric violins
2) moving/restricting the stereo image, say by moving the right pan value to the left
3) playing with convolution reverb and stage placement
